Remediation of synthetic dyes from wastewater using yeast—An overview
Synthetic dyes released by various industries pose a real concern to the environmental safety. Existing physico-chemical methods of dye removal from effluents suffer from severe constraints like low efficiency, high operational cost and large amount of sludge generation. Over the last two decades, considerable work has been done with the goal of using microorganisms as bioremediation agents in ...
متن کاملFormaldehyde degradation by catalytic oxidation.
Formaldehyde used for the disinfection of a laminar-flow biological safety cabinet was oxidatively degraded by using a catalyst. This technique reduced the formaldehyde concentration in the cabinet from about 5,000 to about 45 mg/m3 in 8 h. This technique should prove useful in other applications.
متن کاملSynthesis, spectroscopic characterization and catalytic application for dyes oxidation
The synthesis, IR , P NMR and cyclic voltammetry characterizations of a new WellsDawson-type heteropolyanions which contains iron HFe2.5P2W18O62, 23H2O and HFe2.5P2W12Mo6O62, 22 H2O are reported. The catalytic activity of these compounds was evaluated through the oxidation of methyl violet dye, by hydrogen peroxide. The influence of different parameters such as the initial pH, the initial H2O2 ...
متن کاملEfficiency of electrochemical advanced oxidation process for degradation of antibiotic ciprofloxacin in aqueous solutions
Introduction: Since the use of antibiotics and the release of their residuals to the environment have extensively been growing, it is expected to see mutagenated and resistant bacteria, which are a serious threat to the human health and natural ecosystems. In this study, a novel electrochemical advanced oxidation process by means of the β-PbO2 was employed in order to decompose ciprofloxacin. M...
متن کاملEmploying UV/H2O2 process for degradation of 2,4-Diaminotoluene in synthetic wastewater
Background & Aims of the Study: Toluene-2, 4-diamine (TDA) is a famous carcinogenic aromatic amine that is mostly employed as an intermediate in the production of dyes and toluene diisocyanate. In this study, degradation and mineralization of TDA were investigated by UV/H2O2 process. Materials & Methods: This study is an experimental investigation on a laboratory scale. T...
